Do you want to know something?
You may know gingerbeer as a nice refreshing soft drink. Originally, however, gingerbeer was alcoholic. We go back in time for a moment, as many as 250 years!
This is when the name “gingerbeer” was first pronounced in Britain. This happened thanks to merchants who mixed ginger, sugar and water during their distant voyages. Spontaneously, a fermentation process took place, causing the goodness to ferment and become alcoholic. And that's where our story begins, in the 19th century. Cool, isn't it?

In 2017, August lost the battle against cancer
IN HONOUR of our granddad, his silhouette graces our can.

August devoted his entire life to trading flour and yeast. We return to the essence of gingerbeer by bringing yeast back into the recipe, honoring a bit of his life's work.
Not only was the name, a combination of August and gist (yeast in Flemish), inspired by him, but the branding also refers to the 1970s, the period when August spent his youth. As if that wasn't enough, his silhouette is immortalized on our cans.

We are Arthur and Stijn

August was a real family man, his family always came first. So every week he brought all his grandchildren together in the Belgian Kempen to enjoy life with good food and drink.
This led to close friendships and sometimes even joint ventures between the cousins.
